New Title

What a hectic year! I've had so much on my plate with recovering from my Euro trip, finishing projects from said trip, moving to the big D, oh (!) and starting school at TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy!  What an adventure that was.. I walked in there thinking it would be a breeze. Boy, was I wrong. I will never doubt my hairdresser ever again!
I've only been out of school for a month now and in a few days I'll be taking my FINAL exam. Words can't express how ready I am to claim my very own chair! To snip and lighten and mold and TRANSFORM my clients' weary locks!

So, this is my new chapter. My new title. Hairdresser. It's simple and to the point. And I love it!

Sweet Satisfaction

I've become so accustomed to starting my day at the cafe with my pastry and cappuccino then making my way to the gelato shop when the afternoon heat starts to melt the make-up right off my face and then bidding farewell to my day by devouring some type of devilish dessert! This would not be the case on a usual day in Texas...the ice cream, maybe...but I condone this behavior because of all the walking I do. My professor doesn't seem to believe in busses or taxis! My feet keep screaming at me about the cruel and unusual punishment, but I've got a pedi waiting for me when I get back to the states! I hope I'll be able to regain my normal routine as quickly as possible...most importantly, my sleep schedule!

All roads lead to Roma

Does anyone remember the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie "When in Rome"? I do! Specifically, the part when they go to the Trevi fountain and throw in their coins..that was the moment I fell in love with Italy. Since then I've so badly wanted to throw a coin of my own into that fountain. And with the biggest smile of satisfaction, I can now put another "check" on my bucket list!

When in Rome..

I just got back from Roma! I wish we had had more than two days there. There was so much packed in to that trip that there wasn't enough time in the schedule to stop and tie your shoe! I saw the colosseum, the Pantheon, the Sistine Chapel, Saint Peters, the Vatican. There was enough to make your head spin! But it was worth it!

Day 6

Classes finally started! Never thought I'd be excited about school...but here I am! 9-2 mon-fri...surprisingly the day went by rather quickly. My professor is letting us all try our hand at print making. I almost wanted to change my major until I realized how horrible I was at it. But I'm having fun none the less!

We saw more museums today...I'm up to 538 pictures. All the paintings and sculptures are starting to blur together. I'm just itching to do some traveling to Milan, Rome, cinque terre...my list of places to go and things to see is so long I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to extend my stay, in which case I'll be in need of a roommate..any takers?

Culture shock!

Yes, culture shock is a real thing.  And I am not afraid to admit to having experienced it personally. Being cooped up in a plane for 15 hours...jet lag...craving a REAL meal (instead of airplane peanuts)...plus getting lost in a completely foreign country by myself is not the way I planned on starting off my trip.  However, after a good night's sleep in a toasty, very toasty bed, I was over it. Thank goodness!

It's only day 3 and I'm just now being able to stop and breathe. There's so much rich culture in Italy. Between the cappuccino, art work, espresso, all the different pastas...and the Italian men (wink wink), I'm beginning to think 4 weeks won't be long enough!

I've already learned so much here and taken more photos than my camera can handle and class hasn't even started yet!

Just a taste..

Dream Come True

There isn't a happier girl on this planet! Italy has been a dream of mine for who knows how long.. And with the help of my college and my (AWESOME) parents, my dream is becoming a reality! In twenty-four short hours I'll be on a flight to Florence, Italy. I'll be taking two classes over 4 weeks. (Can't wait to put that on my resume!) Don't worry...You'll be going with me! I'm going to keep a travel diary while I'm there. There is no way I could keep all the magnificence that is Italy to myself!

Well...I better start packing!
